This year marks my second Mother’s Day – and honestly, I can’t believe how quickly it’s come around.
Life with our adorable, cheeky, funny, kind, playful, sweet, smart – the list could go on and on and on … – is absolutely the greatest joy of my life!
I love being her mumma so much – more than I ever imagined.
So, with Mother’s Day 2025 fast approaching (11 May) and thinking about all that the day entails, I came across a post about National Mothering Week (5-11 May) – an initiative that celebrates mummas and shines a light on the Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA) and the many ways it supports us through the highs, lows and everything in between.
about the ABA
The ABA provides support to mummas across the country, with more than 120 local groups led by trained breastfeeding counsellors and educators.
The groups offer mums a village of support – friendship, information, community.
“ABA has more than 120 local groups across Australia. These groups are led by trained breastfeeding counsellors and educators,” said Ms Marshall-Cerins, ABA’s Executive Officer in a media statement released by the ABA today.
“For more than 60 years, ABA local groups have offered new parents a village of support, friendship and timely information to help them build community, learn new skills and make new friendships in their local areas.”
While I absolutely LOVE being a mumma – I honestly feeling like I’ve come into my womanhood since becoming one – motherhood, as beautiful as it is, can also feel overwhelming at times.
But the right support can make all the difference – there’s a reason why they say ‘it takes a village’!
And for those of us living away from family and close friends, a virtual village of support – like the ABA’s Virtual Village – can help and remind us that we’re nevering doing mummahood alone.
So, here’s to celebrating mummahood this Mother’s Day – and the village that holds us up along the way.
