‘one nice evening before the world explodes’

As reported by People, earlier this month Daniel Craig made an emotional speech, saying a teary goodbye to “one of his most iconic characters”, James Bond.

According to People, 53-year-old Craig, “has played over five films” as Bond, “with the upcoming No Time to Die marking his final time as the famous secret agent”.

In his speech (which you can watch here), Craig says he’s “loved every single second of these movies”.

“And especially this one,” he says.

“Because I’ve got up every morning, and I’ve had the chance with you guys [the cast and crew].

“And that has been one been one of the greatest honours of my life.”

Well, in case you’ve been hiding under a rock or in lockdown without a TV or the internet, or your iPhone has lost battery and you can’t find your charger – or if you’re like me and you’re on deadline – the movie premiered overnight in London, UK.

Cast members, including Craig of course, were reportedly in attendance, alongside director Cary Joji Fukunaga, composer Hans Zimmer (love, love, love his music!), and No Time to Die performers, Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell.

But hold the popcorn.

Way to upstage the World Premiere.

Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were in attendance and … can we all just take a moment of silence and look at that dress.

Reportedly, Kate Middleton once said:

“By far the best dressing up outfit I ever had was a wonderful pair of clown dungarees, which my Granny made.”

Kate Middleton

Well, she has certainly had an upgrade since then.

The future Queen looked absolutely magnificent.

In what’s been describe by Vogue as one of Middleton’s “most glamorous gowns to date”, the dress came “complete with a dramatic cape and tons of shimmering gold sequins”.

The dress, created by British fashion designer, Jenny Packham, was positively regal yet sexy.

An article by Daniela Elser on news.com.au describes the dress as “the most striking and glamorous get-up she [Middleton] has ever worn”.

“But let’s be crystal clear here: This wasn’t just a dress. This was a declaration of intent and a very apparent power move on Kate’s part”, writes Elser.

According to Elser, stepping out in this dress is “about Kate stepping into, and owning, her power”.

And interestingly comes following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent trip to New York, which some media outlets have said was akin to a ‘royal tour’ amongst other things.

Anyway, move over James Bond … and perhaps, Harry and Meghan, too? Hmmm … Middleton, Kate Middleton (Queen Kate) is here and it’s her Time to … Shine!

Alongside The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall were also in attendance.

Reportedly, healthcare workers and members of the armed forces had also been invited as special guests in celebration and gratitude of their extraordinary work during the pandemic. The evening also supported charities for past and present members of the United Kingdom Special Forces.

The red carpet at the Royal Albert Hall in London was one of 57 screenings of No Time To Die taking place across the globe.

The movie hits theatres in Australia, 11 November 2021.

It’s a bit of a wait and possibly a little bit of a let down after the spectacle that was the World Premier – wouldn’t it be nice if it hit cinemas here at the same time as it did overseas.
