make ‘friends with money’

Let’s face it, most of us could do with some up-skilling in the ‘managing personal finances’ department – I know, I definitely could!

With many of Australians now in lockdown (looking at you, Sydney) and with many others bouncing between lockdown and freedom (ahem, Brisbane), managing personal finances is getting trickier by the day.

Maybe instead of learning algebra in maths class in high school, they could have spent that time teaching us how to budget! Just saying …

Well, there’s some excellent news for those who want to get better at the ol’ money game.

Rainmaker Group, the publisher of Money magazine, announced on 7 July that the magazine is partnering with NOVA Entertainment, launching a podcast series: ‘Friends with Money‘.

The 30-minute weekly podcast is set to be released every Wednesday afternoon and will be hosted by Julia Newbould, Managing Editor of Money magazine and co-author of the finance book, The Joy of Money.

“We know that our readers want to be on top of their finances, but many feel confused by the jargon and overwhelmed by the plethora of information available on the internet,” says Newbould.

“‘Friends with Money‘ was born from the idea that it’s far easier to talk about taboo topics, like money, when you’re among friends.

“That’s why we’re having these casual chats with our Money friends for this podcast series.”

The ‘Friends with Money’ podcast is expected to provide financial insights and smart fixes based on the guests’ experience. They are either finance experts in their own right or successful investors themselves.

“We’re very pleased to launch this podcast at a time when budgets are tight, and people want to find ways to save and invest,” Newbould says.

The ‘Friends with Money’ podcast is available on the Money website, Apple Podcasts, the Google Play store, Spotify and all major podcast platforms.

I’ll definitely be tuning in to this one!
